After a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in oceanography, I completed my doctoral thesis on the behavior of fish larvae at Sorbonne University (UPMC).
Two post-doctorates later (at the University of Lille 1 on bluefin tuna behavior, then at the University of Miami (USA) on Lagrangian modeling), I joined Ifremer as a researcher in applied ethology.
I use AI for automatic recognition of fish behavior, to develop selective fishing gear with low environmental impact.

Tristan Nitot, 57, is a digital entrepreneur, consultant, author and speaker. He has been involved with the open source project [Mozilla](https://www.mozilla.org/fr/) (responsible for the Firefox web browser) since its inception, and co-founded Mozilla Europe, which he chaired for almost a decade. He then joined the French startup Cozy Cloud (open source hosting of personal data) and the European search engine Qwant. After a spell as *Sustainability* manager at Cloud hosting provider Scaleway, he is now Associate Director of [OCTO Technology](https://octo.fr), working on Digital Commons and the Anthropocene.

Stéphanie Schaer, Ingénieure Générale des Mines, has been the Interministerial Director of Digital Affairs (DINUM) since September 2022.

A graduate of the École polytechnique (1997), she is also a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des télécommunications/Télécom Paris.

Her career path has been marked by stints at the Direction Centrale de la Sécurité des Systèmes d’Information (DCSSI, now ANSSI) from 2002 to 2006, then at the Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Employment, where she was a project manager for embedded electronics, then head of the software industry office in the Direction Générale de la Compétitivité, de l’Industrie et des Services in 2008.

She later became deputy regional director of companies, competition, consumption, labour and employment (Direccte) for Burgundy, then Burgundy-Franche-Comté. At the same time, in 2015, as an intrapreneur, she launched the government startup Signaux Faibles, which uses data held by public authorities to detect businesses in difficulty at an early stage and provide them with better support. This service, which has now been rolled out across France, has benefited from DINUM’s support programmes: Entrepreneurs of General Interest (EIG) and the Beta.gouv incubation programme for State Startups.

In 2019, Stéphanie Schaer became deputy director of Élisabeth Borne’s cabinet, first at the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Solidarity and then at the Ministry of Labour, where she was subsequently appointed head of cabinet. When Élisabeth Borne was appointed to Matignon in May 2022, Stéphanie Schaer became an adviser to the Prime Minister.

On 26 September 2022, she was appointed head of the Interministerial Directorate for Digital.
