Call for proposal
The Open Source Experience conference programme is based on a call for proposals. Proposals are submitted to a programme committee, which selects those that best meet the programme’s objectives. Themes and tracks are defined each year. The programme committee is made up of a pool of experts for each track and is coordinated by the Systematic Paris-Region Open Source Hub.

The ambitions of the programme
For this fourth edition, the programme will focus more on use cases and feedback, and refocus on professional uses and the implementation of industrialised solutions.
The emphasis will be on feedback centred on the problems encountered by users and how they have responded.
Innovative viewpoints from speakers renowned for their expertise are also expected.
Open source is approached from 3 angles – the implementation of tools and solutions, the business and management of open source, and the challenges facing the industry and technologies – which are reflected in the 5 tracks of the programme.
The themes selected this year are:
- AI, Machine Learning, Data
- Cloud, infra, IoT
- Cyber & security
- Enterprise solutions
- Business & Issues

The selection process
Step #1 – Collection of Proposals
The collection of proposals will be open from June 17 to July 19th. During this period, speakers submit their proposals on a dedicated platform.
French native speakers are invited to submit in French; other speakers are invited to submit in English.
Step #2 – CFP Closing and Initial Screening
The members of the programme committee examine and evaluate the proposals for the theme for which they are responsible, using a rating scale of 1 to 5. This results in an initial selection. Applicants may be asked to clarify a proposal or answer questions during the selection process. The programme committee reserves the right to reassign a proposal to a more suitable theme, and to ask a bidder to adapt its proposal so that it is more in line with the programme’s editorial line.
Step #3 – Final Deliberation
At the beginning of August, the members of the programme committee will make their selection from the proposals retained at stage 2, according to the editorial line they wish to give to their theme and the number of slots available for each theme.
Conferences within a theme may be organised into sub-themes. A bidder may be asked to join a round table instead of his or her individual conference proposal.
A review of all the selected proposals will be carried out to ensure that the programme is well balanced, that no organisation is over-represented and that diversity issues are respected among the speakers.
Once the final list has been drawn up, those shortlisted will be contacted and asked to confirm their participation in the event. Unsuccessful speakers and those on the waiting list will also be notified.
Step #4 – Implementation of the programme online
At the end of August, the programme committee will make adjustments based on the confirmations of the selected speakers and will develop the programme grid. Each speaker will then be notified of his or her day and schedule. The programme will be posted online in early September.
Of course, nothing is ever perfect and we continually refine this selection process. Despite the fact that the selection becomes more and more difficult, our objective remains simple: to offer our participants the best program possible!
